We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to experience YMCA programs, regardless of financial difficulties their family might be facing. YMCA programs such as child care, camping, swim lessons, youth sports and Y Mentors do more than teach skills; they instill confidence, responsibility, and help young people to be strong in spirit, mind and body. These experiences have a strong impact on kids, helping them grow into healthy, contributing adults.

With your help, no person will be denied the benefits of a YMCA membership based on financial limitations. Through the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign, people just like you come together to make their community stronger. Donations to the Strong Kids Campaign allow the YMCA to provide membership and program assistance to kids and families who might not otherwise be able to afford to pay for YMCA services.

With a commitment to making programs and services available to everyone, the YMCA provided nearly $800,000 in scholarships and program subsidies in 2009 to over 17,000 of our Southeast Minnesota friends and neighbors. We ask that you give generously so that more in our community can share the YMCA experience.

Each tax-deductible dollar contributed to the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign goes directly to making YMCA programs and membership available to those in need. It only takes one to make a difference. Be that one.

Lives are changed for the better at the Y:

.  A teen who is homeless is taught life skills and helped to find a safe place to live, averting a life lost to the streets.

.  A child living with a single parent in poverty is paired with a mentor who gives him positive attention, helps him with his school work, and lets him know he cares.

.  An immigrant teenaged boy meets his friends on Friday night to shoot some hoops in a safe setting that challenges them to live by high standards.

.  An elderly couple credits their regular exercise and friendships at the Y with not only improving their quality of life, but prolonging it as well.

.  A stay-at-home mom reduces stress through exercise and adult contact, allowing her to parent more calmly and effectively.

.  A child learns to be safe in and around the water through swimming lessons.

.  A youth learns soccer skills, growing in a sense of her abilities while learning to play fair.

Kids to Camp Fund

So many of us learned valuable life skills and confidence while gaining lasting friendships in a camp setting. The Rochester Area Family Y offers the Discover Y Day Camp throughout the summer, providing a fun and safe place for elementary aged children to stay active and have fun while their parents work during the daytime hours.

There are many families that need supervised care for their school-aged children during the summer, but they cannot afford it. In order to stay true to our promise to include all children who wish to take part in our programs regardless of their family's financial situation, the Rochester Y is launching our Kids to Camp Fund.

To find out more please contact the Y at 507-287-2260, ext. 305.

Capital Campaign

When the current Rochester Area Family Y facility was built in 1964, it filled a great need for Y programming in Rochester.  Our community has grown significantly since then, and the needs of youth and families require updating and expansion of the Y facility. We are constantly working to improve our facility and capital funds are needed.

To find out more please contact the Y at 507-287-2260, ext. 305.

Heritage Club

The Heritage Club was founded to allow donors to make long term gifts through the Rochester Y Endowment Fund in order to provide for the future of the Y and our community.  The Y has 100+ history of responding to the needs of the community, and we must continue to provide relevant community building into the 21st Century. Through it all, we sustain the ageless lessons of our core values: Caring, Honesty, Respect, & Responsibility.

Gift Options can include bequests, naming the Y as insurance beneficiary, charitable trust and outright gifts.

To find out more please contact the Y at 507-287-2260, ext. 305.

Memorial Gifts/Honoraria

The Y is an important part of the lives of so many people in our community throughout our history. It is natural that many of these people choose to designate the Rochester Area Family Y for memorial gifts to honor friends and family. These special gifts work to benefit our community as a tribute to a loved one.

To find out more please contact the Y at 507-287-2260, ext. 305.
