The Application Process

All volunteers that wish to become mentors must complete an application.   Once Y Mentors receives a completed application, we will contact the applicant and schedule an interview.   All mentors will be interviewed one or two times. In addition to interviewing, Y Mentors completes a criminal background check on all applicants, verifies vehicle insurance, and requires three references.   If the applicant has worked with children in the past, either as a volunteer or as an employee, we require one of the references come from that source.

If you have any other questions about the application process, please feel free to call (507) 287-2401 to speak with one of the Y Mentors case managers.
